Projects
Most of Lieve’s paintings and photographs stand on their own, but some are part of a bigger project. Read about them below!
Leporello - 2025
As a follow-up of the woodblock printing courses Lieve did, she followed a 3 day course to make a leporello or accordion book. It’s named after a character from the opera Don Giovanni by Mozart, who keeps all the names of his master’ lovers in a book that folds out and keeps getting longer and longer. Instead of lover’s names, Lieve went for an evolution of stars, from 4-pointed to 8-pointed and back again all connected by a wave. This piece was created by cutting shapes from poplar multiplex and using those to print on long strips of paper that were later glued together and folded to create the accordion book.
Dutch Photo Month - 2025
Organised by the Dutch Photo Academy in January 2025, the Dutch Photo Month is an initiative to stimulate photographers to get out and about during gloomy winter. With 9 assignments that can be done both inside the house or outside, it is an excellent opportunity to pick up the camera and take some pictures. Lieve participated for the first time this year and you can see her pictures below. The assingments were: bokeh, symmetry, famous building from your home, red, minimalism, patterns, reflection, macro and long exposure.
The Wardrobe - 2021-2024
Upon moving to a new city in 2021, the newly acquired wardobe came with empty spots that were perfect to fill with art! Another move and a few years later, all the spots are filled with patterns from various locations taught by different geometric artists. Have a look down below to see more detailed pictures of all the works.
All pieces are watercolour and gold gouache on paper
The Jaali Book - 2021-2022
This book with watercolour paper was a random find in an art store which was not bought with a purpose in mind. But after following Richard Henry’s course on Jaali screens, Lieve was inspired to fill the book with cutouts of Jaali patterns and to add watercolour backgrounds to them. Curious to how the inside looks? Have a look here below!
